Information on Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
Penn Urology is a leader in minimally invasive and noninvasive procedures, including robotic-assisted surgery and endourology. Endourology, which uses small fiberoptic scopes that can be passed through the urethra to visualize the lining of the urinary tract from kidney to bladder, allow Penn physicians to treat urethral obstruction, enlarged prostate, bladder tumors and urinary stones without incisions. Thin, flexible instruments including lasers, graspers, miniature stone retrieval baskets, special scalpels and cautery, can be advanced through the scope to perform the procedures.
U.S. News & World Report ranked our hospitals thehighest in the region for urology. Overall, our clinical specialties have been consistently ranked among the nation’s best.
At Penn, we make it a priority to establish an effective relationship with our patients and provide excellent care. If you have questions about your urology problems, we are happy to discuss them with you. We will do our best to make your visit useful and productive.
